  • I provide comprehensive and individualized mental health care. I specialize in the judicious prescription of medications, including antidepressants, mood stabilizers, and antipsychotics, to effectively manage a wide range of mental health conditions. For patients with ADHD, I prescribe stimulant medications, ensuring a tailored approach that meets each individual's unique needs. In the case of benzodiazepines, I adopt a cautious strategy, prescribing them on a case-by-case basis for non-daily use, always with a focus on patient safety and well-being. My commitment is to support patients in achieving optimal mental health through compassionate and evidence-based care.

  • As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a master's degree in psychology and background as a former therapist, I integrate evidence-based therapeutic approaches into my practice to enhance medication management appointments.

I specialize in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI), both of which are designed to empower patients by building on their strengths and fostering motivation for change.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy allows me to work collaboratively with patients to identify and amplify solutions to their challenges, focusing on their goals and the steps needed to achieve them. Through Motivational Interviewing, I engage patients in a supportive dialogue that helps them explore and resolve ambivalence, thereby enhancing their intrinsic motivation to pursue positive behavioral changes.

My approach is centered on creating a therapeutic alliance that respects each individual's autonomy and values, ultimately guiding them toward achieving their mental health goals. I am committed to providing compassionate and effective care that supports my patients' journey toward improved mental well-being.

  • As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a comprehensive understanding of ADHD treatment, I am committed to providing timely and effective care for individuals with ADHD. While I strongly advocate for comprehensive neuropsychological testing as an integral part of the diagnostic process, I recognize that the current waiting period for such testing in our area can extend to six months or longer. I firmly believe that this should not impede the initiation of treatment for those in need.

To address this, I am comfortable diagnosing and treating ADHD while awaiting formal neuropsychological testing. In my practice, I utilize a range of preliminary assessments, including the ESQr, ASRS, ACOS, and WURS, to gather valuable insights into each patient's condition. These assessments can be completed in-office or at home and typically take about 30 minutes.

My process begins with an initial evaluation to rule out other potential disorders. Following this, patients undergo preliminary testing, and we schedule a follow-up appointment to evaluate results, conduct an in-office EKG and vital sign check, and discuss medication options if appropriate. Once treatment is initiated, I schedule follow-ups every 10 to 14 days to monitor progress and adjust medication dosages as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes. During this period, shorter assessments may be repeated, taking approximately five minutes to complete, to ensure we are on the right path. After optimal medication dosage has been determined, the patient return appointments are every 3 months.

This structured and responsive approach ensures that patients receive the support and treatment they need without unnecessary delays, enhancing their ability to manage ADHD effectively and improve their overall quality of life.
